Join us in participating in a day of traditional celebration in the farming village of San Antonino Velasco. For Domingo de ramos (Palm Sunday) the community carries a statue of Jesus atop a bed of roughly 1 ton of produce in procession to the town church. Community members donate goods like mangos, freshly baked bread, alfalfa, and shoes to the church to be auctioned off after the Palm Sunday mass with proceeds benefiting the church. After the procession we will feast on the local specialty empanadas de amarillo and visit a family sculptors that work with red clay. After a mole lunch at the Ocotlán market we will visit the home of a traditional mezcal producer.
